Travelling to Nelson Lakes National Park
The Nelson Scenic Route
From Nelson south on Highway 6. Turn left at the signpost at Belgrove and enjoy the drive through the Golden Downs pine plantations which gives way to the native beech forest as you climb into the mountains.
From Picton and Blenheim
Travel to Renwick, turning off at Highway 63, continue up the scenic Wairau Valley for 93 km's and cross the Tophouse saddle into St Arnaud.
From Christchurch
Travel north on Highway 7 through the Lewis Pass to Springs Junction, turn onto Highway 65, through Murchison, turning off at Kawateri Junction onto Highway 63.
From the West Coast
Travel north from Greymouth or East from Westport, through Inangahua Junction and Murchison, turning off at Kawateri Junction onto Highway 63.
