Nelson Lakes National Park is located in the northernmost ranges of the Southern Alps, South Island, New Zealand. Although best -known for its lakes both large and small, this 102,000 hectare National Park offers tranquil beech forest, craggy mountains, clear streams, open tussock lands and river-edge clearings.
St Arnaud is the gateway to Nelson Lakes National Park. From this alpine village on the shores of Lake Rotoiti, a network of tracks explore the lake edge and the Park's glacial features and beech forests. Both short walks and full day walks are possible, making St Arnaud an ideal place for walkers of all ages and abilities.
